Technical Sergeant Joseph Lemm
Technical Sergeant Joseph Lemm, was a NYPD veteran and a technical sergeant in the Air Guard’s 105th Base Security Squadron. He served two tours in Afghanistan and one in Iraq. Lemm was one of six soldiers killed by a suicide bomber outside Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan on Sept 3rd, 2013. The suicide bomber drove a motorcycle rigged with explosives into a NATO-Afghan patrol. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack in the Helmand province, near Bagram Air Base.
Joseph Lemm, age 45, grew up in Nebraska. He lived in Westchester County as a 15-Year veteran of the NYPD and the elite Bronx Warrant Squad. He had served three deployments to Afghanistan from January to June 2013 and to Iraq from June to December 2011. Thousands of civilians, police officers and military lined the street at his funeral in New York. He is survived by his wife, Christine, 17-year-old daughter, Brooke, and 4-year-old son, Ryan.
