Trump Comments Since Obama Released Birth Certificate

On Friday, Donald Trump claimed he ended the birther controversy by forcing President Obama to release his birth certificate. The White House released the long form of Mr. Obama’s birth certificate on April 27, 2011. Trump now says he ended the  controversy when he forces the president to release the birth certificate, but here is what he has said since then:

May 2012 Trump said:
“He didn’t know he was running for president, so he told the truth. The literary agent wrote down what he said … He said he was born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia … Now they’re saying it was a mistake. Just like his Kenyan grandmother said he was born in Kenya, and she pointed down the road to the hospital, and after people started screaming at her, she said, ‘Oh, I mean Hawaii.’ Give me a break.” (to Lloyd Grove, The Daily Beast)

“Well, I don’t know, did he do it? … Well, a lot of people don’t agree with you and a lot of people feel it wasn’t a proper certificate.” (to Colette Fitzpatrick, TV3 in Ireland)
May 27, 2014 Trump Said:
“He was perhaps born in Kenya. Very simple, OK? He was perhaps born in this country. But said he was born in Kenya because if you say you were born in Kenya, you got aid and you got into colleges. People were doing that.” (at National Press Club)

Jan 2016 Trump said:

“Who knows about Obama?…Who cares right now?… I have my own theory on Obama. Someday I will write a book, I will do another book, and it will do very successfully.” (to Wolf Blitzer, CNN)

Trump only ended the birther controversy today, yet there was no explanation of why he no longer believes something he peddled for years. He is already trying his normal tactics, trying to have the next scandal distract the media from the unanswered questions. We already know Trump adopted the birther movement when he thought it would be helpful to his political aspirations. Recently it became clear that it was getting in the way of his political aspirations, so he abandoned it today. But we still need the media to hold his feet to the fire. Let’s see what his explanation is.
At a rally in Miami on Friday night, Trump said Clinton’s body guards should be disarmed, insinuating someone could then take her out. Back to 2nd amendment solutions.
